PAST PROJECT

Reaching Rural

Rulo Strategies collaborated with the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) to support the Reaching Rural Initiative from 2022 to 2025. This innovative, cross-sector initiative brought together rural practitioners from diverse professional backgrounds and regions across the country, equipping them with the leadership skills and tools needed to drive meaningful, community-based solutions to the ongoing substance use challenges. Reaching Rural was co-sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the State Justice Institute, reflecting a strong federal commitment to supporting rural communities through collaborative, evidence-informed approaches.

PAST PROJECT

Rural Justice Collaborative

The Rural Justice Collaborative (RJC) was formed in February 2021, in partnership with the National Center for State Courts, to support rural justice practitioners and their partners in behavioral health and public health. The RJC's early work focused on developing its organizational structure and establishing an advisory council. In the summer of 2021, the RJC began distributing the monthly RJC Digest newsletter and released the call for RJC Innovation Site nominations. Through the innovation sites, the RJC highlights effective cross-sector partnerships, distills the key components of successful rural initiatives, and shares them with other rural communities. Reaching Rural was sponsored by the State Justice Institute.
